Announcement of the Golden Olive Oil Competition

The Palestinian Standards and Metrology Institution announces the launch of the Golden Olive Oil Competition, organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Agriculture, and the Palestinian Olive and Olive Oil Council. The competition for the Golden Olive Award for Extra Virgin Olive Oil is proudly sponsored by the Palestinian Standards and Metrology Institution, in partnership with Bal Trade and Agricultural Relief, Agricultural Work Committees Union, Palestinian Center for Economic and Social Development, Palestinian Engineers Syndicate, Birzeit University – Testing Laboratories Center, Palestinian Agricultural Research and Development Center, and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

Competition Conditions:

• The oil quantity must be no less than 100 kg for individual producers or 500 kg for collective production, stored in a single, full container suitable for oil storage and compliant with food safety standards.

• Participation includes one sample per farmer, and one or more samples for cooperative associations. The entry form must be filled out with the name of the individual farmer or the association/collective. Multiple samples from bottling companies and mills are allowed, with the oil source specified. The form must state the name of the oil producer.

• The oil must be from the 2022 season.

Requirements for participants who meet the competition criteria:

• Submit 2 samples of 250 ml each from the specified quantities, with bottles completely filled.

• Complete the competition entry form.

• Pay the participation fee of 50 shekels per completed form.

• The deadline for submitting samples is Thursday, November 17, 2022.
