The Palestinian Standards and Metrology Institution Awards Quality Certificates to Three National Companies
Minister of National Economy and Chairman of the Board of the Palestinian Standards and Metrology Institution, Mr. Khaled Al-Asili, and the Director General of the Institution, Eng. Haider Hajjeh, handed over Palestinian Quality Certificates to three national companies, in the presence of the Deputy Chairman of the Board and President of the General Federation of Palestinian Industries, Mr. Nasar Nasar. These certificates are awarded for the first time in the stone and marble sector to: Nasar Stone for Investment and Contracting, Al Baron Quarries and Crushers, and Lord Plastic Industries Company. The awarding followed technical inspections, verification that products meet the technical specifications, and auditing of the quality systems within these facilities.
During the ceremony held at the Ministry’s headquarters in Ramallah, Al-Asili emphasized that most of the inspections are carried out in national laboratories and expressed pride in Palestinian industry. He affirmed the institution’s commitment to continuous development and improvement to ensure Palestinian products gain their rightful share both locally and internationally.
Al-Asili stated, “Today, we celebrate our national companies receiving these certificates, which represent a benchmark and proof of the development, advancement, and success of Palestinian companies in implementing standards and specifications, striving to provide the best products to Palestinian consumers.”
He called on all national enterprises to apply for the certificates granted by the institution, describing these certificates as a “passport” to export and competition. He also expressed appreciation for the institution’s staff, management, and the high quality of services provided.
“Among our priorities is attracting investments and increasing national exports, which requires continuous improvement and development of local products. We are moving forward with further measures to protect and develop national products. We have witnessed growth in the share of some productive sectors, including agriculture and industry, and we are working at the same pace with other sectors,” he added.
Mr. Nasar Nasar, Deputy Chairman of the Board and President of the General Federation of Palestinian Industries, said: “We will work on updating and developing industries and intensifying local and international efforts to maximize our ability to achieve industrial growth and enable our national products to reach more international markets.” He also stressed the importance of the role played by the Palestinian Standards and Metrology Institution as a leading body in cooperation with the private sector and protecting the national product.
For his part, Eng. Haider Hajjeh, Director General of the Institution, praised the quality of the national products and factories that received the Palestinian quality certificates, noting that these certificates have enabled the export of products to many regional and international countries. He affirmed their goal to replace Israeli products with national ones and to enhance national exports to Arab markets. He also confirmed the institution’s readiness to provide services that elevate the quality of national products and its continuous efforts to remove obstacles facing Palestinian products in regional and global markets and to open new markets.
Hajjeh called on national factories to apply for certificates granted by the institution, as this enhances their competitiveness and ensures continuous monitoring of their products’ quality. He expressed appreciation for the national factories holding the institution’s certificates and encouraged producers to benefit from mutual recognition agreements of the institution’s certificates with other countries.
