The Palestinian Federation of Industries and the Union of Food and Agricultural Industries Organize a Workshop on the Mechanism of Selling Food Products from the Southern to the Northern Governorates
The Palestinian Federation of Industries, in cooperation with the Union of Food and Agricultural Industries, organized a workshop focused on the mechanism for selling food products from the southern governorates to the northern governorates.
The workshop was attended by Mr. Osama Al-Nu’san, Vice President of the Palestinian Federation of Industries, Eng. Haider Hajjeh, Director General of the Palestinian Standards and Metrology Institute (PSMI), the Director of PSMI in Gaza, Mr. Tayseer Al-Safadi, Vice President of the Union of Food Industries, members of the Board of Directors of the Union of Food and Agricultural Industries, and representatives of food industry companies.
Mr. Osama Al-Nu’san welcomed the attendees and opened the session by highlighting the importance of the food industry, stating that the Palestinian Federation of Industries considers this sector a top priority in all meetings and discussions with stakeholders. He emphasized the need to open new markets for food products that have obtained ISO certifications and the Palestinian Quality Mark. He also addressed the challenges facing the industrial sector, especially in light of escalating local and global crises, and discussed key obstacles to exporting industrial products and possible solutions.
Eng. Haider Hajjeh spoke about the role of the Palestinian Standards and Metrology Institute, outlining the main services it provides, including mandatory technical regulations, certification, legal and industrial metrology, and testing of final products. He stressed the importance of technical compliance and the features that make Palestinian products more attractive and competitive in both local and international markets.
For his part, Mr. Tayseer Al-Safadi, Vice President of the Union of Food Industries, emphasized the critical role that PSMI plays in supporting and strengthening national products across all aspects. He reaffirmed the ongoing and constructive collaboration between the Union and the Institute to serve food industry companies.
During the workshop, participants discussed export mechanisms and the roles of PSMI, the Federation of Industries, and the Union of Food Industries in removing obstacles to exporting food products to the northern governorates. This, they agreed, would contribute to enhancing trade between the two parts of the country and boosting product competitiveness.
